I’ve been writing these blog posts every two weeks for more than a few years now.  Every year at this time I fight the internal battle, asking myself if I should write something about gratitude as we approach Thanksgiving Day.  Sometimes I give in and cfc-dinner-1  write the cliched piece, sometimes I don’t.

This year I feel like I have no choice.  Cliched or not, I have to tell you how grateful our CFC team is at Thanksgiving time this year.

Since January of 2012, Community for Coaches has been committed to helping Coaches grow in their ability to use sports as a tool to change lives.  We have conducted workshops, launched and led discussion groups and mentored Coaches individually.  We have seen our staff grow from one to four, with plans to continue that expansion on into the future.

We have had the privilege of serving Coaches in schools, youth leagues, clubs and colleges throughout the Kansas City Metro Area.  We have been incredibly blessed by a team of supporters who have generously provided time, energy, effort and financial resources that have enabled this work to grow and thrive.

On November 12th, all of those pieces came together as Community for Coaches celebrated its 2nd Annual Fall Benefit Dinner/Auction at the College Bcfc-dinner-2asketball Experience in Downtown KC.  What an incredible night we had.  Nearly 300 guests and about 25 volunteers/staff gathered to share about CFC and its impact on people’s lives in our city.  There was a silent auction, live auction, fantastic meal and time to enjoy the activities in the CBE.  There were speeches and videos that helped capture and communicate the CFC story.

At the end of the night, as guests were leaving and clean up was beginning, we ran some totals and found that over $30,000 had been raised to further the mission of CFC.  The outpouring of generosity was humbling and thrilling for our team.  We are beyond grateful to all who attended, bought, gave and worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to make the event possible.  Many, many thanks to you all.cfc-dinner-3

Most of all we are humbled and grateful for the blessings God has lavishly poured out on this ministry in the past five years.  We pause this Thanksgiving to thank Him for who He is and all He has done for us as we seek to honor His Name and bring Him glory.
