It’s been a year since we began working with Coaches in Kansas City. In that time, we have seen the hand of God and the Word of God change people’s lives, mine included. As rewarding as the first year has been, there’s something comforting about heading into that 13th month, knowing that we’ve been here before (and survived year 1), and this time around we are more knowledgeable and experienced regarding the job we have to do. For Coaches, where so much of our existence is built around our seasons and the calendar, beginning year number two at any job provides an opportunity to look back and evaluate, as well as look ahead and dream about/plan for the future. Where have you been, where are you now, and where are you going?
Where are you headed personally and with your family? What direction is your team/program going?
Recently, someone sent me an encouraging note that mentioned a Bible verse that I had not seen in a long time. In this text, the prophet Habakkuk has been complaining to God that his cries for help have gone unanswered, and he receives this reply:
“Look at the nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5)
How cool is it that we have a God who is committed to overdelivering? That He has a track record of working in a way that goes beyond anything we can imagine? If that’s not an encouragement for us, then I don’t know what is. Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing heading into this new school year, commit it to Him. Seek the Lord’s hand, and walk with Him faithfully. And prepare yourself to be utterly amazed.

I’ve never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright
You were amazing
