Promises
by Ryan Krzykowski
The new posts in this space don’t drop until Monday and the emails go out on Tuesday, but I’m typing this on a Friday morning. It’s been a bear of a week, and I’m feeling burdened by a variety of circumstances: relationship challenges, the health of friends and family, and worries/uncertainty about the future just to name a few. So when our school’s FCA group asked me to share this morning about something I’m thankful for, my initial reaction was “sorry, you’ve got the wrong guy at the wrong time.” But I’m well aware that even in the toughest of weeks, God is good and I could spend all day making a gratitude list. I didn’t end up spending all day, (although that would be an interesting exercise, to set aside an entire day to list things I am grateful for), but I came up with this and shared it with the group this morning.
A short and sweet list of God’s promises:
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:8
“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20b
Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:11-13
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. – Revelation 21:4
God is good. His promises are trustworthy. And I am grateful.
Let’s Coach With Purpose…
Here’s another fitting verse I came across in devotional time this past week.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
James 1:2-4
