Our family watches “The Amazing Race” every week. It’s the one show we all watch together. If you saw last week’s episode, you’re familiar with the Singapore Flyer, a gigantic ferris wheel looking structure. It provides a breathtaking view of a beautiful city from more than 50 stories up in the air.

These two brothers were faced with the challenge of riding a car to the top of the Flyer, getting out, and climbing along a ladder to the next car over. Of course they were very securely harnessed, so there was no real danger. And yet, these two guys were terrified. They completed the task, but the whole time they were consumed by fear. They had an opportunity to experience something that almost no one in the world gets to do, and to see
things that nobody gets to see, and all they could think about was putting one foot in front of the other. They couldn’t get it over with quickly enough. What they either didn’t realize or didn’t care enough to process was that their fear was 100% unnecessary. It was illogical. They were in no danger at all. There was no good reason to not enjoy the experience.

I’ve realized that’s how I live sometimes. I have a life that is awesome. Nobody in the world gets to do the things I do and see all the things I see. Sometimes challenges come. Actually, lately it seems that more often that not, serious challenges come. But so what? Because of Jesus Christ, I am completely secure. I am free to live fearlessly every day, no matter what. There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of, and any fear I might have is 100% unnecessary and illogical. He has promised that He is with me always (Matthew 28:20), and that He will never leave me or forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). I am harnessed in, and I can do my best to enjoy every day He’s given me.
