Good Habits – Great Perspective
by Ryan Krzykowski
The words hit me pretty hard: Pray for 7-year-old Francisco in Brazil. He has ichthyosis, a skin condition that has caused discrimination. Pray for provision and encouraging friends.
I certainly don’t have prayer all figured out, and I’ve rarely felt like I’m very good at it. But I have made praying a regular part of my day. I set, and nearly always show up for, a daily “appointment with God”.
Our school’s football team advanced to the third round of the state playoffs, the first time we’ve made it this far since I joined the coaching staff. Along with a trip to the state quarterfinals comes a fair amount of work, with a little pressure and stress mixed in. Reading the prayer request for Francisco in Brazil provided a reminder that while the work we’re doing here matters, the pressure and stress are probably optional. I read that request on November 7, on a prayer calendar published by Compassion International, an organization that provides for the needs of children and families around the world. I’d love for you to join me in praying each day using the Compassion calendar. You can find it here.
Let’s Coach With Purpose…
Perspective amen. For many years my mind was being controlled by sport, it was a Father wound, if dad could just affirm that I was good or good enough, I could stop filling my mind and heart with sport. Well, of course God healed that wound, dad stopped working to hard to satisfy his own child wound. Dad was a work a holic, he lost perspective, and passed the wound down to me, sport was all I really cared about until Jesus came along offering a new life with new healing and new thoughts. I was too busy chasing a dream that was meaningless really.
