Coming Soon: 2026 Sharon Thompson Coach of the Year Nominations

In case you haven’t noticed, change has come so quickly and dramatically in the sports world in recent times that it’s easy to feel like things are out of control.  Transfer portals, social media controversies, the proliferation of sports betting ads, the list goes on, and it can feel like my head is spinning.  What are we doing?  Who/what is all this for?  And, perhaps most importantly, what are we doing to our kids?

While an out of control sports landscape seems like a reality, what’s also a reality is that there are plenty of coaches out there who are intentionally and effectively using the gift of sport as a tool to transform lives in a positive way.  At Community for Coaches, we exist to help the women and men who serve our kids/families grow in their desire and ability to coach transformationally.  It’s who we are and what we do.

As part of that effort, every spring we look for coaches to recognize as part of the Sharon Thompson Metro KC Coach of the Year program.  Nominations will open on February 1 on our website and will run through mid-late February.  Who’s out there doing it right?  Who’s out there using sports to change lives and make our city a better place?  Who should be considered for Metro KC Coach of the Year?  We would LOVE to see them nominated.
