Community For Coaches’ KC Metro Coaches of the Year Award exists to recognize and celebrate coaches who are using sport to transform lives.

2021 Coach of the Year Finalists

Below are the finalists for the Community for Coaches 2021 Coaches of the Year.

FEMALE FINALISTS

Dena Johnston

Dance/Cheer, Lawrence Free State High School

What was shared about Coach Johnston:

Coach Johnston never seems to run out of energy, and it’s hard to imagine anyone could care more about the young people she leads than Dena does.  She would be a fantastic choice as Coach of the Year.

Lisa Cowan –

2021 Metro KC Female Coach of the Year

Cross Country, KC Christian School

What was shared about Coach Cowan:  

Coach Cowan uses cross country as a tool to teach life lessons to her students. Her motto is don’t run because your have to, run because you can.  Lisa wants her students to see how blessed they are to be able to go out and run everyday.

Jessica Horstick

Volleyball, Blue Valley West High School and KC Power

What was shared about Coach Horstick:

Coach Horstick is a humble, selfless leader who always puts her student- athletes first.

MALE FINALISTS

Ryan Hintz

Basketball, Blue Valley West HS

What was shared about Coach Hintz:

Ryan continually relates basketball to life situations. He takes a great deal of time to follow up on individuals who are struggling in any way.

Craig Enloe

Baseball, 3&2 of Johnson County

Basketball, GABL

What was shared about Coach Enloe:

Craig cares directly for his players and follows up with their activities after he is no longer actively coaching them.  Also, he cheers on all his players — showing a commitment to help them succeed at the sport.

Tyler Kincaid –

2021 Metro KC Male Coach of the Year

Baseball, Blue Valley SW High School

What was shared about Coach Kincaid:

Not only does he help all athletes, he is willing to share his knowledge with all coaches as well. He has been a huge mentor for me in my journey not only as a coach but also a man.

Austin Isham

Volleyball, MAVS

What was shared about Coach Isham:

Austin’s commitment to these boys is visible in everything he does. He is their director, their coach and their friend and mentor. He deserves all the recognition of this award.

Beginning on February 1st, nominations will be live online at communityforcoaches.org.  Athletes, parents, administrators and other Coaches are encouraged to nominate a deserving Coach.  These are women and men who are making a difference in communities, families and the lives of individuals.  This is your chance to let the world know about your favorite Coach!  

Nominations will run from February 1 – March 15, and the CFC selection team will announce the finalists on April 1st.

Final Voting Process

Once the finalists have been determined, the online voting will begin at communityforcoaches.org.  Voting is scheduled to run from April 1 – 30.

The coaches (1 male, 1 female) receiving the most votes will be selected as our 2021 KC Metro Coaches of the Year!

Awards Banquet

Our 2021 KC Metro Coach of the Year Awards Banquet will be held virtually.  Our finalists will all be recognized and we’ll announce the leading vote getters for 2021 KC Metro Coaches of the Year!
